Summary

Lead is a highly toxic metal that was used prevalently throughout homes, schools and businesses. Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavior problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Children 6 years and younger are at most risk since there bodies are growing quickly and they often touch and ingest lead painted/contaminated items. According to the EPA, the primary sources of lead exposure for most children are: deteriorating lead-based paint, lead-contaminated dust and lead-contaminated residential soil. Over the past recent years, lead has been eliminated or reduced in gasoline, drinking water, industrial air pollution and consumer products (including paint). The healthAIR Group has the knowledge, equipment and certifications needed to address your lead concerns whether you need a lead inspection, risk assessment, industrial air sampling or drinking water analysis.

Lead-Based Paint Inspection Services

The healthAIR Group's accredited lead inspectors have conducted numerous surface-by-surface investigations to determine the presence of lead paint and provide a detailed report explaining the results of the investigation. All lead-based paint inspections are designed to locate lead paint in a housing unit (or other facility), and determine how much lead is in the paint.

The healthAIR Group is prepared to either collect paint chip samples or utilize one of our state-of-the art NITON XRF analyzers. The XRF analyzers determine the chemistry of a sample by measuring the spectrum of the characteristic x-rays emitted by the different elements in the sample when it is illuminated by high-energy photons. When a sample is measured via XRF, each element present in the sample emits its own unique fluorescent x-ray energy spectrum, including lead (and it's concentration).

Lead-Based Paint Risk Assessments

Risk assessments are a detailed inspection and review of deteriorated paint only and includes inspection and sampling of dust and soil where necessary. The healthAIR Group's accredited risk assessors can provide you with a lead hazard control plan or certification of lead-based paint compliance.

Lead in Paint OSHA Survey

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that all workers disturbing lead-in paint surfaces during renovations, demolitions or during maintenance activities are protected form lead exposure. The healthAIR Group's accredited lead inspectors can provide thorough lead inspections detailing all surfaces and components that have lead in any amount.

Clearance Dust Wipe Sampling

Following proper lead abatement, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department Housing and Urban Development require clearance wipe sampling of various surfaces. The healthAIR Group Consultants can assist in this sampling and provide the necessary laboratory analysis.

Lead Air Sampling

Personal exposure monitoring is required during lead abatement while ambient air monitoring is often requested on lead abatement sites and in general areas of concern. The healthAIR Group's air monitoring technicians can assist you in sample collection, analysis and report documentation.
